Four technicians.
Two counties. No guessing.
True Fix Long Island is a small, owner-run shop working out of Melville since 2010. We cover Nassau and Suffolk ourselves — no dispatch network, no subcontractors, no one quoting your repair over the phone before they have seen the machine.
How this shop started
Dominic Varga spent six years on a manufacturer's warranty route covering Nassau and western Suffolk. The route paid per stop, which quietly punishes the one thing that actually fixes appliances: taking the time to find the real fault. Swap the obvious part, close the ticket, move on — and see the same house again in five weeks.
He started True Fix Long Island in 2010 to run it the other way round. Technicians are paid for the diagnosis, not the stop count. Nobody quotes a repair before seeing the machine. And if a repair does not make financial sense, the technician is expected to say so out loud, take the diagnostic fee, and leave the sale on the table.
Long Island housing makes that approach necessary rather than noble. A Levitt-era cape in Levittown, a 1920s village house in Floral Park, a waterfront rebuild in Bay Shore and a Great Neck co-op each break appliances differently — long basement vent runs, plumbing two generations older than the dishwasher bolted to it, salt-laden air on the South Shore, mineral scale on every heating element. The machine on the invoice is rarely the whole story.
Today the shop runs four technicians out of Melville and covers 121 ZIP codes across both counties. Every call is still worked by someone whose name is on this page.
Dominic Varga starts TrueFix out of a single van in Melville, covering central Nassau.
Second and third vans added; coverage pushed east through Babylon and Islip.
Built-in and column refrigeration line added for North Shore work.
Commercial division opens — restaurants, delis and laundromats across both counties.
Parts stocking agreement lets vans carry the common OEM boards, pumps and elements.
Classified essential; ran full schedules through the shutdown with contactless calls.
Coverage completed to the Riverhead approaches — Nassau and Suffolk end to end.
Four technicians, 121 ZIP codes, same-day slots six days a week.
Four rules we do not bend
Written down because they cost us money sometimes, and we keep them anyway.
Diagnose Before Quoting
No phone estimates pulled from a script. A technician finds the actual fault, then prices the actual repair.
One Number, In Writing
Parts and labor in a single figure you approve before anything is opened. It does not move afterwards.
We Say When Not To Fix
If the machine is not worth the repair, we tell you that and charge you the diagnostic only. No upsell.
Treat The House Properly
Shoe covers, floor protection under the pull-out, and the kitchen left the way we found it. Every visit.
Who turns up
The whole shop. These four are the people who will be in your kitchen — and the ones writing the guides on our blog.
Dominic Varga
Founder & Lead Technician
With TrueFix since 2010
Dominic started out servicing walk-ins for a Hicksville restaurant supplier, then spent six years on a manufacturer's warranty route covering both counties. He opened TrueFix so techs would get paid to diagnose properly rather than paid per stop.
Cassidy Lorne
Senior Technician — Built-Ins & Compact Laundry
With TrueFix since 2014
Cassidy handles the panel-ready and column refrigeration common in Great Neck, Garden City and the North Shore villages, plus the stacked and compact laundry that fills co-op closets. She measures twice before anything comes out of a cabinet.
Emeka Duruji
Commercial Service Lead
With TrueFix since 2016
Emeka runs the restaurant, deli and laundromat accounts from Rockville Centre out to Patchogue. He works the pre-open window so a kitchen never loses a service, and writes the documentation health inspectors ask for.
Talia Beckerman
Service Coordinator
With TrueFix since 2019
Talia builds the day's routes around traffic on the LIE and Southern State, chases parts distributors for next-morning delivery, and handles co-op boards, supers and certificates of insurance so you don't have to.
